February 19, 2025Polar Bear Pedal returns for 2025
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (Indy DPW) is delighted to announce the return of one of its five major, annual Mayor’s Bike Rides. On Saturday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m., bicyclists from across the city are invited to take part in the Polar Bear Pedal.

Indy DPW launched city-wide bike rides, like the Polar Bear Pedal, to not only celebrate community and wellness, but to show the City’s commitment to invest in more pedestrian and bike-friendly infrastructure. On this wintry ride, riders will see firsthand the newly-revitalized Old Southside neighborhood following the $7.9 million Complete Streets project as well as the recent expansion of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail on South Street.

The ride will begin at Bottleworks District, head to the Old Southside, before returning to Bottleworks District.

Important Event Guidelines:

Riders are expected to ride together for the duration of the ride. Indy DPW volunteers and IMPD staff will be sporadically stationed to help manage the safety of the crowd. By riding together, bikers actively participate in the management of their own safety and the safety of others. Polar Bear Pedal participants should plan to dress appropriately for the cold weather.
